OTP Scams in Nepal: The Exact Scripts Fraudsters Use
KYC calls, prize links, fake delivery OTPs - recognise every version and shut it down.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-10-04
Every OTP scam is theatre with one goal: your 6 digits. Learn the scripts and they stop working on you forever.
Steps
1The KYC threat call
'Account blocking today, share OTP to verify.' Hang up. Real compliance lives in official apps, never phone calls.
2The prize link
Won a lottery you never entered? The link harvests logins, then the 'fee' harvests cash. Delete.
3The delivery OTP
'Wrong address, share OTP to redirect.' Couriers never need your wallet or bank OTPs.
4The screen-share trap
Never install remote-access apps for 'support'. They watch you type passwords live.
5After a slip
Shared already? Change PINs from the official app, call support, watch statements for weeks.
Good to know: Read OTP SMS fully - they state what the code is for. A code 'for login' used in a 'KYC call' is the giveaway.
