Labour Permit
Labour Permit (Shram Swikriti): Process and Documents
Individual vs institutional permits, renewals, and keeping departures legal.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-10-04
The labour permit is the government's departure clearance for workers. Flying without a valid permit risks offloading, detention abroad and zero insurance coverage.
Steps
1Know your route
Individual permits (direct employer visas) and institutional permits (via manpower) have different document sets.
2Assemble matching documents
Passport, visa/demand, contract, medical, insurance and orientation certificates - all names and dates aligned.
3Apply before tickets
Never book non-refundable travel before the permit is in hand.
4Renew on time
Re-entry and renewals have their own windows. Expired permits strand workers mid-process.
Good to know: Photograph every page of every submitted document. Disputes are won with paperwork.
