A

Try it right here:

Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Only

Uses lakh/crore grouping for Nepali cheques and vouchers. Always match the figures box exactly.

Banks reject cheques for tiny errors: mismatched words and figures, overwriting, wrong dates, or signature differences. Write slowly and check twice.

Use the number-to-words tool on this site to get lakh/crore wording right, then copy it carefully onto the cheque.

Steps

  1. 1Date it properly

Write the current date (BS or AD as your bank accepts). Post-dating is allowed deliberately; stale cheques (usually 6 months old) get rejected.

  2. 2Payee name exactly

Full account name, no nicknames. Draw a line through leftover space so nothing can be added.

  3. 3Figures box carefully

Write close to Rs printed, e.g. Rs 1,25,000/- with the dash. No gaps for extra digits.

  4. 4Words line to match

Rupees One Lakh Twenty Five Thousand Only - must match figures exactly. Strike through remaining space.

  5. 5Sign and cross

Sign exactly as per bank records. Two parallel lines on top-left make it account-payee (safest).

Good to know: A bounced cheque can carry legal consequences in Nepal. Never issue cheques against money that is not already in the account.

FAQ

What if I make a mistake?

Small countersign corrections sometimes work, but banks prefer a fresh leaf. When in doubt, cancel (write CANCELLED across) and rewrite.
