How to Connect a Domain to Vercel (Nameservers or Records)
Add domain in Vercel, verify with DNS, and get automatic HTTPS.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-10-04
Vercel connects domains two ways: nameserver delegation (easiest) or individual records. Either gets automatic SSL.
Steps
1Add in Vercel dashboard
Project > Settings > Domains > Add. Vercel shows exactly which records it wants.
2Choose connection type
Nameservers to Vercel (full management) or A + CNAME records (keep registrar DNS).
3Wait for verification
Vercel checks periodically. SSL issues automatically after verification.
4Set production domain
Assign the right deployment/production branch so the domain serves the intended version.
Good to know: Wildcard subdomains need nameserver delegation or specific DNS support - plan this before promising NAME.site.com features.
