Android Apps Keep Crashing? Fix Any App
One app crashes on open while others work. Fix the app without factory-resetting your phone.
By DigitalNepal · Updated 2026-09-15
Single-app crashes are caused by corrupted cache, outdated WebView, or a buggy update. Work from the gentlest fix to the strongest.
Steps
1Force stop and reopen
Settings > Apps > the app > Force stop, then reopen it.
2Clear cache only
In the same screen, Storage > Clear cache. Your login and data stay safe.
3Update the app and Android System WebView
Update both from the Play Store - many crashes come from old WebView.
4Check storage space
Apps crash when free space drops under 1 GB. Free space using the storage guide.
5Reinstall as the last step
Uninstall and reinstall from the Play Store. Back up in-app data first if the app does not sync online.
Good to know: Avoid 'RAM booster' apps - Android manages memory itself, and force-closing everything makes crashes worse.
FAQ
What if ALL apps crash?
