Steps
1Scan with phone correctly
Drive scan mode, top-down, good light, dark background. Check zoomed-in readability.
2Name files properly
YourName_Citizenship_Front.pdf - never IMG_2026.pdf. Future you will thank present you.
3Back up twice
Cloud (Drive/Photos) plus one offline copy (pendrive). Ransomware and theft happen.
4Know what counts as official
Scans help applications, but counters demand originals. Ask each office what they accept.
Good to know: Never scan sensitive documents on shop computers - copies get kept and misused.
