Change your Wi-Fi password when neighbours slow you down or after sharing it widely. Fifteen minutes, once a year minimum.
Steps
1Open the router page
Connect to Wi-Fi, open 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, log in with admin credentials (sticker, unless changed).
2Find wireless security
Look for Wireless / Wi-Fi Settings / Security. Choose WPA2-PSK or WPA2/WPA3 mixed.
3Set a strong password
12+ characters, unrelated to name or number. Example pattern: three random words plus digits.
4Save and reconnect all
Router reboots; reconnect phones, TV and laptop with the new password. Update the sticker note.
Good to know: Also change the router ADMIN password while inside - neighbours on your Wi-Fi can otherwise open this same page.
